Enter the West Island Karate Photo Gallery
The West Island Karate Photo Gallery consists of pictures generously contributed by our students, their parents and friends of West Island Karate. One of those West Island Karate students/parents is David Boily, a professional photographer whose work you'll often see in La Presse, Le Journal de Montreal and the Gazette just to name a few. Fortunately for us, he's been a major contributor to our photo gallery over the years. For a fun sample of his work, just click on the photo below to view a musical slide show of our annual juniors tournament. Then enter the West Island Karate Photo Gallery to see more of his photos as well as those of our other contributors. Thanks so much David!
If you have some pictures of our students that you would like to share, please drop us a line and we'd be more than happy to post them in the West Island Karate Photo Gallery.
Sensei John conducted a comprehensive, dojo-wide grading of all ages and levels on Saturday, June 15th. Highlights included four of our students being tested for Shodan while Sempai Manon was graded for Nidan. We "rebooted" the Canadian Junior Kyokushin Championships by hosting our annual tournament at the Bob-Birnie Arena in Pointe-Claire for the first time. The change in venue allowed us to offer an even better experience for all our competitors and their supporters. Thanks to our own Marie-Hélène Gauthier (much appreciated M-H!), we have some great shots of the action to share with you. Just click on the picture above to access the photos. Enjoy!
Our 2nd annual Karaoke Family Christmas Party met with all expectations and then some, thanks in big part to Paul Belair (one of the dads at our dojo) who brought along his projector, projection screen, fog machine and laser light show for the event. And thanks to our own David Boily, we have some awesome photos of the entire evening to share with you (just click on the picture above to check them out). Much appreciated Paul and Dave! Happy holidays everyone!
Click on the above pic of Spiderman to see some more fun photos of the West Island Karate / Karaté de L'Île Halloween Training courtesy of Anne-Marie Lemieux. The kids (not to mention Sensei and the Sempais) certainly had a blast. Thanks for the wonderful photos A-M. Enjoy everyone!
Here are some more photos of our West Island Karate team competing at the Karaté Kyokushin Québec Championship in Quebec City, courtesy of Anne-Marie Lemieux (thank you so much for the great shots Anne-Marie). Just click on the picture above to enjoy Anne-Marie's photos of the action.
Our dojo was once again invited to support the Montreal Japanese Language Centre's annual Autumn Festival by putting on a demonstration of Kyokushin Karate. This is always a fun event for the students who participate as they get to display their karate skills on a large raised stage (as you'll see, some could barely contain their smiles :-)). Click the photo above to see the pictures from the demo.
Sensei John and his Sempais returned on the Sunday morning following the tournament in Quebec City for the West Island Karate / Karaté de L'Île Halloween Training. This is easily one of the most fun annual events that our students (and their parents) enjoy at our dojo and this year was no different. Click the picture above to see just a few photos from that special training (more on the way soon).
The night before doing battle at the Karaté Kyokushin Québec Championship, our entire team went out for a delicious dinner in Old Quebec. Our West Island Karate / Karaté de L'Île roadtrips are always so much fun, providing a great way for the kids, parents and teachers to get to know each other further outside the dojo. Click the picture to see a few photos from that dinner.
What better way to spend a beautiful autumn weekend than to head to Quebec City for the first tournament of the year with our extended dojo family. Click the picture above to see some fantastic photos of our team competing at the Karaté Kyokushin Québec Championship, courtesy of David Boily (thanks so much Dave)!
The day was finally here...the grand opening of Sensei John's newest dojo: KARATÉ DE L'ÎLE in Île-Perrot! This second West Island Karate location augments the existing dojo in Beaconsfield. Day 1 at Karaté de L'Île was a fun day of training with many familiiar faces as well as some new ones. And speaking of faces, click on the picture above to see the beard-like substance that Sensei John was sporting on his face for opening day. :-) Only time will tell whether this will be a "permanent addition" to the dojo. Enjoy the photos courtesy of your humble webmaster.
