Dojo Kun

The dojo kun or dojo oaths are often recited both at the beginning and end of a training session.  They were written by Sosai (founder) Masutatsu Oyama and the famous Japanese writer Eiji Yoshikawa (author of "Musashi", a best selling book about the life of legendary Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi).  Studying the dojo kun is an excellent way to try to understand the philosophy of Kyokushin karate.  At West Island Karate, the dojo kun must eventually be memorized by all students in both Japanese as well as English and/or French.

Please click on each student's picture to hear him/her recite the corresponding dojo kun in its entirety.  You may also click on the links below to hear only that portion of a dojo kun so you can learn them one phrase at a time.  Have fun!
